The Doña Leti Legacy

Everything this business is today is due to our incredible mother, Doña Leti. When we were very young, our father passed away in a car accident. Our mom, desiring to give us a better life and more opportunities, bravely moved us to the United States from El Salvador by herself. For as long as we can remember, she worked 3 and 4 jobs at a time to ensure we had clothes on our backs, food in our stomachs, and a roof over our head.

One day our mom had the idea to start selling fruit around our apartment complex for extra money. We would roll around the cooler with her and knock on every door asking if they'd like to purchase. Eventually, we transitioned into selling out of the back of a pick-up truck. As popularity grew and our mother realized the potential she had to succeed with this, she bet on herself and bought a small food trailer. She parked in the same spot at the end of South Post Oak Road for many years building up both relationships and recipes.

In summer of 2019, we decided it was time for the world to know about Frutas Doña Leti (our original business name). We made an Instagram account and flooded it with pictures of our beautiful fruit arrangements, smoothies, delicious drinks, and mouth-watering food. As more people began to come, we added more and more menu items. We soon grew out of the little trailer and were able to purchase our first real food truck.

Once we introduced our world famous Birria to the menu, it was over. We began going viral daily on all social media platforms. We sold out every single day and people would wait for 3+ hours in order to try our food. In mid-2020 when many businesses were sadly having to close their doors, we couldn't keep people away. We soon realized the food truck was no longer big enough to sustain the demand and in May of 2020, we opened our first location on South Post Oak Road, just 1/2 a mile from where our food truck was parked for all those years.

Sadly in May of 2021, just one short year after opening her dream restaurant, our mother unexpectedly passed away. We know the best way to honor her life and her legacy is to continue sharing her ideas with the world, so we will continue to grow and expand as much as people demand. People travel from all over the state and country to eat Doña Leti's, so we don't plan on stopping anytime soon. We are honored to carry on her dream, and we are honored to have you as a part of it.
